Bruce Johnson
President

Bruce Johnson currently serves as the President and CEO of the Inter-University   Council of Ohio.  Johnson has held his current position since December of 2006.  Johnson leads an organization designed to provide each of its member institutions with opportunities to collaborate for the benefit of Higher Education in Ohio.  Johnson is responsible for strategy development and implementation for all aspects of the Inter-University Council.

Prior to serving in his current capacity, Johnson served as Lt. Governor of Ohio and State Development Director.  During his tenure, Ohio was recognized twice for leading the nation in new and expanded facilities.

Before serving as Director of the Department of Development, Johnson was a member of the Ohio Senate where he served as President Pro Tempore, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, and Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University and his juris doctor from Capital University Law School.  He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1985.

Mike Suver
Vice President of Government Relations

Mike Suver currently serves as the Vice President of Government Relations for the Inter-University Council of Ohio.  He has held his current position since January of 2007.  Suver represents the IUC on legislative and other policy matters before the Ohio General Assembly and state agencies.  He is responsible for tracking, monitoring, and acting on state governmental and legislative issues.

Prior to his position with the IUC, Suver served as Chief of Staff for Ohio’s former Lieutenant Governor Bruce Johnson and also as Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs for the Ohio Department of Development.  As chief of staff to the Lieutenant Governor, he managed the day-to-day affairs of the office and served as key contact with business, other state agencies, and the Ohio General Assembly.  As Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs, he managed the agency’s legislative affairs office.

Before joining the Ohio Department of Development, he served as Project Manager for the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority where he managed the Authority’s legislative affairs section.  He developed initiatives by which trade associations, businesses, government officials and the general public became involved with Authority programs.

Suver also served as Director of Public Policy Services for the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association.  While there, he was responsible for developing policy directives relative to energy and the environment.  He worked seven years in the Ohio Senate before joining the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University.

Cindy L. McQuade
Vice President of Operations

Cindy McQuade is Vice President of Operations at IUC.  She assists the IUC President in developing operational goals and objectives, implementing communication/advocacy strategies, and managing projects for the Presidents Council and standing committees. McQuade also provides analysis on state/federal laws, directives, and reports affecting higher education.

McQuade has been with the IUC since 1994. She previously worked in the Office of the President of The Ohio State University as Assistant for Government Relations, and earlier as Assistant to the Vice President for University Communications and Development. McQuade is also a professional advisory member of the ADA-Ohio; a Project Mentor volunteer for the Columbus City Schools and Big Brothers Big Sisters; and a certified tutor for English as a second language.

McQuade earned a bachelor of arts degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences, and a masters degree in Public Administration from The Ohio State University.

Sara Grundei

Sara Grundei is currently serving as the Administrative Associate for the IUC. She has held this position since March 2006.   She performs a broad range of complex administrative duties related to the oversight of the daily operations of the Inter-University Council.  She develops and coordinates special projects and special events. She establishes, organizes and maintains office and support activities.   She also prepares, monitors and reconciles the IUC budget and procurement activity.  She provides computer support services; researches and responds to inquiries; coordinates with  executive assistant to help with the schedule of the President as well as all office travel.
 

 


Marianne Daily

Marianne Daily currently serves as the Executive Assistant to the President for the Inter-University Council of Ohio.  She has held this position since September 2007.  Marianne is responsible for the administrative duties associated with the President of the IUC and preparation for the Presidents Meetings.

Marianne previously worked as the Executive Assistant to the former Lieutenant Governor/Director Bruce Johnson, of the Ohio Department of Development.  Her duties were to manage the Lt. Governor/Director’s office and handle day-to-day operations as well as coordination of travel and scheduling.

Marianne served as the Executive Assistant to the previous Director as well as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer of the Ohio Department of Development.  She also has worked at the Franklin County Commissioners as the Administrative Assistant to the Financial Director and as an Executive Secretary to the Director of Operations at Rockwell International.
